The Illinois Fighting Illini decided to end their rivalry with the Missouri Tigers in football this season, meaning the Arch Rivalry game wasn’t held for the first time since 2006.

In the long history of the rivalry, dating back to 1896, the two teams have played intermittently every few years. There have been a total of 24 matchups and Mizzou holds the series lead, 17-7.
